The short version. We collect what it takes to cook your food, bring it to your door and charge you correctly — your name, contact details, address, what you ordered, and what you paid. We do not sell it, we do not share it for advertising, and there is no advertising or analytics tracker of any kind on this website.

What we collect, and why
If you order or subscribe to a meal plan
- Your name, email address and phone number — to confirm the order, send the receipt, and reach you if a delivery goes wrong. A phone number is required for delivery because drivers need a way to reach you at the door.
- Your delivery address — to work out whether you are in a delivery area, to sort you onto a driver's run, and to print the box label.
- Your plan, meal choices, skipped days and dietary changes — this is what the kitchen packs.
- Your payment record — amount, date, and the last four digits and card brand as reported back to us. We never see or store your full card number. Card details are entered on a payment form hosted by Clover and go straight to them.
If you have a portal login
Your email address and a securely hashed password, held by our hosting provider's authentication service. We cannot read your password.
If you drive for us
Drivers use the Dakshin Driver app. It collects:
- A photo of each delivery at the door, as proof it arrived. Taking this photo is required to mark a stop delivered.
- Your device's location at the moment you mark a stop delivered — a single position fix, recorded alongside that delivery. The app does not track drivers continuously, does not run location in the background, and does not record location between stops. If location is switched off or the fix takes more than six seconds, the delivery is recorded without it.
- Your driver's licence number and expiry, a photo of your licence, and your vehicle's make, model, colour and plate — because we are required to know that the person driving is licensed and insured. Licence photos are stored privately and are opened through short-lived links that expire after an hour.
- Your pay rate and payout history — to pay you.
If you just visit the website
We count visits so we know which pages are worth keeping. For each page view we store the page path, where you came from (referring site or campaign tag), your country, and your browser, operating system and device type. We also store a random identifier generated in your browser so a single person browsing five pages is not counted as five people.
We do not store your IP address. Your IP is used once, in passing, to look up which country you are in, and is then discarded. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no Meta pixel and no third-party tracker on this site.
Cookies and browser storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do use your browser's own storage for two things:
- A random visitor identifier (df_vid) and a returning-visitor flag (df_seen), for the visit counting described above. These are random values. They are not linked to your name, your account or your orders.
- Your login session, if you sign in to the customer portal, so you are not asked for your password on every page.
Clearing your browser's site data for dakshinfoods.ca removes all of it.
Who else sees your information
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. We do rely on a small number of service providers to run the business, and only pass them what the job needs:

Several of these providers operate outside Canada, which means information about you may be stored or processed in another country and be subject to that country's laws.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Orders, subscriptions and payment records — kept while you are a customer and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Delivery photos and delivery locations — kept as the record of a completed delivery, and removed on request once the delivery is no longer in dispute.
- Driver licence and vehicle records — kept while you drive for us, and removed when you stop.
- Website visit counts — kept as aggregate statistics. They are not tied to a person.
Your choices
- See what we hold about you. Email us and we will tell you.
- Correct it. Addresses, phone numbers and meal preferences can be changed in the portal or by calling the shop.
- Delete it. Email us and we will delete what we are not legally required to keep, and tell you plainly what we had to keep and why.
- Stop the emails. Reminder and marketing emails can be stopped at any time. We will still send the transactional ones — receipts, and notice that a delivery is on the way — for as long as you are a customer.
- Refuse location. Drivers can decline the location permission. Deliveries still work; they are simply recorded without a position.
Under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act you may ask for access to your personal information and challenge its accuracy. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a request, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Children
Our services are meant for adults ordering food. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, tell us and we will remove it.
Security
Access to customer records is restricted to the kitchen's own staff accounts and enforced by the database itself, not merely by the screens. Drivers see only the stops on their own run for the current day. Licence photos and delivery photos are stored in private buckets and served through links that expire. Card numbers never reach our systems.
No system is perfect. If we ever suffer a breach that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and notify the appropriate regulator.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be emailed to customers with an active plan.
